Around the country, numerous funerals for Syrian soldiers take place each day, not only sapping the military’s manpower but also cutting into its support and resolve, analysts say.

In Washington, James R. Clapper Jr., the director of national intelligence, appeared before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday and submitted written testimony saying that “the erosion of the Syrian regime’s capabilities is accelerating.” While the Syrian government has kept rebels from fully seizing the three largest cities, he said, “it has been unable to dislodge them” from their footholds there.

Much of the Syrian Army remains well organized and capable, he said, with a far more effective command and control structure than the highly motivated but loosely structured rebel coalition it faces.

But, he said, its soldiers “rely morally and psychologically on something like a truce, like surrender, like destroying the enemy, and in this kind of war you are not really able to measure your success.”

A group calling itself the Coalition of Free Alawite Youth pushed back on Tuesday, offering an alternative for Alawites who do not want to take up arms. SAWRAN, Syria — The United States and other international donors are spending hundreds of millions of dollars on humanitarian aid for Syrians afflicted by the civil war. But here in the rebel-controlled north, where the deprivation is most acute, that money has bought mostly anger and resentment: the vast majority of aid is going to territory controlled by President Bashar al-Assad, and the small amount reaching opposition-held areas is all but invisible.

Rebels argue that the humanitarian assistance is in effect helping Mr. Assad survive the war of attrition. “Aid is a weapon,” said Omar Baylasani, a rebel commander from Idlib, speaking during a visit to a Turkish border town. “Food supply is the winning card in the hands of the regime.”

The biggest obstacle blocking aid from rebel-held areas is the United Nations requirement that its relief agencies follow Mr. Assad’s rules — which limit access to opposition territory — as long as the international assembly recognizes his government….

That means that while internally displaced Syrians living in government-controlled areas are cared for in United Nations-run camps, with standard shelter and basic utilities, the many who have fled into opposition territory are plagued by shortages of food, fuel, blankets and medicine.

Gen. Salim Idris, head of the rebel's Supreme Military Council, said anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles are urgently needed to protect civilians.

Idris, though, said he did not agree with the argument that more weapons meant more death. The regime, he said, is using heavy weapons against civilians, including long-distance artillery, surface-to-surface Scud missiles, and the still-potent air force.

"When we don't have enough weapons, when we don't have enough ammunition, the regime in Damascus still feels it is powerful, and it continues killing, and it continues to shell the villages and the cities," he said.

"We need weapons and ammunition to force the regime to stop killing and to stop destroying the country," he said. Given the necessary munitions, he said, the rebels could overthrow the Assad regime within a month. And he said the weapons would be tracked, kept out of the hands of extremists, and returned after the victory.

"If you give us 10 rifles, we'll give you back 10 rifles," he said.

Without an influx of weapons, the war could drag on and on, he said. "The country will be completely destroyed," he said.

The commander of the Free Syrian Army has urged the international community to provide weapons and ammunition to help his fighters in their battle against President Bashar al-Assad.

Gen Selim Idriss also called for the lifting of the EU arms embargo against Syria, saying it was having a much more negative effect on the opposition than on the Assad regime.

His comments came in a rare interview with the BBC's Chris Morris, in which he also made a plea for more humanitarian aid to help the millions of civilians caught up in the ongoing conflict in his country.

The rebel leader, who is in Brussels to address the European Parliament, said he was confident that the FSA could win the war - but warned the bloodshed could continue for years.

When I was child I used carry my lunch box with my books, our school gave us only a glass of milk and biscuits, not all the times sometimes nothing. Or you don;t need study at all just mono programming children's brains, they can start work 5 years old!

Saud, whose country along with other Gulf states is widely believed to be supplying weapons to the Syrian rebels, said Saudi Arabia could not ignore the brutality Assad is inflicting on his people, even after two years of escalating violence that has claimed 70,000 lives.

He said history had never seen a government use strategic missiles against its own people.

"This cannot go on," he said.

"He has lost all authority."

In his discussions with Kerry, Saud said he had "stressed the importance of enabling the Syrian people to exercise its legitimate right to defend itself against the regime's killing machine."

Saud also decried the fact Assad continued to get weapons from "third parties," a veiled reference to Russia and Iran, which have backed the regime through the conflict.

"Saudi Arabia will do everything within its capacity, and we do believe that what is happening in Syria is a slaughter, a slaughter of innocents" he said.

"We can't bring ourselves to remain quiet. Morally we have a duty."

Kingdom of Saudi never let down the world, the world never forget about the Kingdom’s generously and benevolences for the Syrian people their great struggle. Given the U.S. role in the world, there is no real option but to play, because out of Syria’s mess will come some kind of new reckoning between the world’s powers where everyone’s leverage lies in the new Middle East. The Russians have staked their bets, and, in their own way, the Chinese, the Iranians, the Turks, and the Saudis have, too. So has everyone else in the neighborhood, even the small fry. The result is a bloody stalemate. For better or worse, everyone is looking to the Americans to tip the balance, because that is the role that a superpower, still in the game, is expected to play. This is not about what’s right so much as it is about the game. If the Americans want the outcome to favor them and their allies they must try to help mold it. Direct aid may have its risks, but no move at all means losing, too.

I know all of them their colonies their nests and their habits etc...without reading any of these stories, little artificial shallow play grounds they learn from distorted nasty bolted parrot holes, which only dead end vision I learn from wild blue sky eagle eyes, see thing bird eyes view, so I know what I am talking about, all the wiz people, splurge their ideas in diagrams and charted brains drains but they would have no clue of how butterfly are so beautiful! That is what I am saying.

UPDATE: I love summer, there so much things going on our backward town, insects colonies, butterflies, bees flowers sea stream, birds rainbow fishes and horizon cloudy sky and seamless could in our pond, there is a huge black snake twist around summer rose fence, swelling wild lily, sometimes wild dark sea like a mad woman or blazing wild cobalt sea with snarling white tongue wave girl, anyway butterflies I never catch same species but all different I remember all of them look so I never catch same once. They flock at wild rose jasmine shade softly softly scent of air so quite, lazy summer muted at the bluest sky, I told the sky "...hush.." you look at them what they are doing, softly lofty kiss buds, that is how summer...
