Where Was the Nato?

...
Rebels had gained control of swaths of Zawiya and were engaged in a fierce battle with government troops, said Shamsiddin Abdulmolah, a rebel spokesman in Benghazi, the opposition stronghold in eastern Libya.

The coastal highway through Zawiya is a key artery, and it has assumed even greater importance since NATO maritime patrols have discouraged many container ships from delivering cargo to Libya.

A NATO spokesman, Wing Commander Mike Bracken, confirmed Friday that rebels had secured control of much of the Berber highland zone southwest of Tripoli, including the cities of Zintan and Yafran, the latter about 70 miles from the capital.

NATO Burden-Sharing
“As the events in the Middle East and North Africa have shown, we cannot predict where threats will occur and we have to be ready, willing, and able to work together,” said the secretary of state.
Clinton says the 60-year-old transatlantic alliance has always come together to make the tough decisions, and she believes that is not going to change.

Gates says the risk is that future generations of U.S. politicians who were not shaped by the Cold War may not consider the return on America's investment in NATO worth its cost.
Some of the countries e.g Germany and Spain et al opportunities, this conflict in right their door steps too,  they enjoyed relatively easy access oil reserves, when this all finishes  the rebel should know who help them who has not and trading accordingly.

Yes US defence budget cuts and while other countries increase. Whether cave man or modern man not much difference in terms of muscles power,  modern man has  more advance weapons that is all, strong military  is the country’s muscles power, that is why some of these tyrants are building strong military while their people are staving. United Nato-Allies crucial, do not send any mixed signals  to Gaddafi(supporters),  don’t not give him one tiny piece fraction  of hope to cling on. Just demolish him, even bombing his supporters houses, where they carried out their atrocity.

Also the world should not reapeat its eardrum  “ Gaddaf refuse step down …” not up to Gaddafi go or not but already his faith set,  we already know that so don’t waste your time and resources just bulldozer style, get rid of him.  If Nato don’t know where he is now well then…
